  • December 17, 2015 — FMCSA has launched a new, simplified online registration process for use by motor carriers, intermodal equipment providers and other freight service providers, for use in applying for a USDOT number.   • December 10, 2015 — The U.S. House of Representatives passed S. 808, the Surface Transportation Board Reauthorization Act of 2015, which establishes the STB as an independent government agency, increases board membership from three to five, authorizes appropriations for its programs, and makes key changes to arbitration procedures. The Senate passed the bill in June.
  • December 10, 2015 — FMCSA released a Final Rule requiring adoption of Electronic Logging Devices within two years, setting ELD technology specifications, specifying HOS supporting documents, and addressing ELD-related driver harassment. Read the press release here. FAQs can be found here.
  • December 4, 2015 — President Obama signed the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act (H.R. 22), the 5-year, $305 billion, surface transportation reauthorization legislation. Read more about the impacts on the intermodal industry here.
